Introduction of Research and Innovation Institute

On the occasion of its 13th anniversary, Sendelta International Academy (SIA) established the Research and Innovation Institute. The SIA Research and Innovation Institute is dedicated to fostering students' comprehensive growth by providing support in technology, STEM, humanities, arts, sports, leadership, community service, and personal talents—empowering students to thrive in all dimensions.

SIA Research and Innovation Institute is the first of its kind among international schools across the country. The concept of "Research and Innovation" was proposed by Mr. Xu Shenggui, the principal of our school. The core idea is to stimulate students' self-motivation in learning and the release of their potential. Cultivate future talents with comprehensive qualities.

Though officially launched in 2024, the Research and Innovation Institute is not built from scratch but inherits the 13-year legacy of SIA’s former Science and Innovation Institute.

The Science and Innovation Institute had already established a sterling reputation in the Greater Bay Area’s international education circle, achieving remarkable success in computer science, engineering, biology, social sciences, and maker competitions.

The upgrade to the Research and Innovation Institute reflects SIA’s unwavering commitment to personalized education. Beyond strengthening STEM education, the Institute will expand into humanities, business, arts, and sports, respecting individual differences and helping every Sendelta student discover their passion, autonomy, and potential.

Another purpose of establishing the Research and Innovation Institute is to help students prepare to connect with the future world. In a society where artificial intelligence is highly developed, how can we cultivate children's future competitiveness? Principal Xu proposed that "students should stand at the peak of AI rather than be confined behind it," emphasizing that in an era of rapid technological development, the harmonious coexistence of scientific spirit and humanistic sentiment, as well as the all-round improvement of comprehensive quality, are the core competitiveness of future talents.

It can be said that the establishment of the Research and Innovation Institute is a deep embrace of educational modernization by Sendelta. Through a series of empowering measures, Sendelta will open up a more diverse, open and integrated learning and living environment for students.

Under the educational vision of the Research and Innovation Institute, Sendelta has built a new second-phase campus and expanded its area to 44,000 square meters, featuring high-standard laboratories, art classrooms, research and innovation classrooms, and various types of sports fields, etc. It is capable of accommodating a rich variety of activities in the four major fields of science and engineering, humanities, business, music, art and sports. Whether it is the painstaking research in the laboratory, the collision of inspirations in fashion design, or other forms of creative practice, this vast space will provide strong support for all of them. Currently available:

High-standard laboratory

Molecular biology laboratory, FRC quasi-industrial robot training base, embedded engineering laboratory, personal project laboratory, etc. There are also resources such as Shenzhen Lingzhu Laboratory in off-campus laboratories, all of which have reached the level in line with top domestic and international competitions and meet the needs of experiments and competitions.

Research and Innovation & Arts Space

There are 17 research and innovation classrooms and 29 art classrooms, fully meeting the needs of students majoring in humanities and art.

Motion space

Indoor golf driving ranges, basketball courts, tennis courts, football fields, badminton courts, indoor golf driving ranges, gyms, etc. Diverse sports scenarios provide various types of sports support.

Courses of the Research and Innovation Institute

Starting from the development needs of students and taking their learning interests as the entry point, the Research and Innovation Center implements personalized and diversified education plans. It has now developed and optimized competition courses such as the VEX curriculum system, RCJ curriculum system, FRC curriculum system, biology individual project curriculum system, and humanities curriculum system, to meet the individualized development needs of students.

In addition, the Research and Innovation Center is equipped with a team of research and innovation mentors with excellent resumes and rich backgrounds, including but not limited to domestic and foreign master's and doctoral professors who teach subjects, competition mentors with rich competition experience and guidance experience, and external experts from various fields, ensuring that students receive multi-dimensional and high-quality guidance in all fields.
